But over time my uncle became a biker who has an arsenal at his house. This sunday the news broke there had been a shooting in a Texas church. Unlike the incident in New York, the perpetrator was a "disturbed soul" not a terrorist since he was white. Regardless, the killer was just a loser wanting to commit suicide-by-cop while taking innocent people with him to gain notoriety while "getting back" at his ex.
The problem of mass shootings will never be resolved in the United States. Because gun owners are passionate about owning their weapons. Por ejemplo: I get along with my uncle politically because he despises Donald Trump. But I made the mistake of bring up the subject of gun-control to him while watching the game & he immediately said "they want to take the guns away from us good guys". I said "the only gun-control bill I've heard about is background checks --". My uncle interrupted me & said "that's how it starts -- With a database". Once I realized my uncle was raising his voice just to repeat right-wing talking points, I changed the subject back to the game.
Which is what probably happens in arguments all throughout this country. The minority who own all the weapons will never allow any laws to pass because "that's how it starts".
But this latest mass shooting in Texas is particularly tragic. Like in Newtown, some of the victims were children, including an "unborn child":

The victims, both those who died and those who were injured, ranged in age from an unborn child to 72, Sheriff Tackitt said. Family members and friends have begun releasing some information about the victims, which include several members of the same family. Read the latest updates here.
Living in the U.S. I get the feeling we're sitting ducks. Because a "disturbed soul" wanting to commit suicide-by-cop can strike anywhere: church, school, theatre, outdoor concert, place of work, nightclub, etc. & lately, these psychos appear to want to kill as many people as possible, Orlando: 49, Las Vegas: 55, Sutherland Springs: 26.
