The fact Trump likes to watch Fox News is often mentioned in the newsmedia like it's no big deal. But to me, it's weird (like many things from this administration). It's as if it'd been common knowledge that Obama liked to watch MSNBC & hire talent from that channel (like Joan Walsh).
Speaking of that, apparently the Donald watched Anthony Scaramucci (who was (or is) a contributor to Fox News & Fox Business) & liked the way "the mooch" defended him so Trump decided to hire him (over the objections of Reince & Spicer). A few days later, Reince & Spicer were gone. & now Scaramucci is gone too. A lot of turnover in a very short period of time all because Trump likes to watch Fox News (Why does the Donald watch FoxNews so much? Who knows? Maybe so he can feel good about himself? I'm sure Obama felt tempted to watch MSNBC all the time too but I doubt he did it. Obama even let Fox News's Bill O'Reilly interview him during the superbowl despite FoxNews's constant attacks).
With that in mind, today's reports about a Washington private detective named Rod Wheeler who was at the center of a news article about the death of Seth Rich (a young DNC aide who was murdered), are troublesome. Wheeler filed suit against 21st Century Fox & Fox News asserting that the network had pushed the article at the urging of the White House and fabricated quotes from him to support it.
A NYTimes article has more information about it:
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/01/business/media/seth-rich-fox-news-white-house-lawsuit.html
& this paragraph is key:
'Mr. Wheeler cites a text message and voice mail from Mr. Butowsky as evidence that President Trump had reviewed the article before its publication and supported it. According to the suit, a text message from Mr. Butowsky on May 14 read: “Not to add any more pressure but the president just read the article. He wants the article out immediately. It’s now all up to you. But don’t feel the pressure.”'
If it had been alleged by an MSNBC contributor that Obama had reviewed an article with that news channel to push a fake story attacking the RNC & Romney, there would be overwhelming outrage. Yet with Trump, nobody seems to care: It's like a fourth segment story on MSNBC (Trump helping come up with a misleading statement for Don jr (concerning the meeting with the Russians) is the top story on seemingly all the news channels). I'm sure it's tempting for Trump to always be surrounded by adoring aides giving him "dear leader" accolades & to always be watching Fox News with their positive coverage, but I don't think it benefits him in the long run. & if it's true Trump reviewed & pushed the #fakeNews Seth Rich story: Trump's reliance & influence on FoxNews might become a scandal just as big as the #TrumpRussia investigation.
