On Sept 10th: will the Arizona Cardinals win their first regular-season game against the Detroit Lions?

Being from Phoenix, as a kid my favorite sport was basketball & my favorite team was ( & still is) the Phoenix Suns.
But now that I'm older I've been much more interested in football than I used to, thus I've been following the Arizona Cardinals more closely.
Not that I was unfamiliar with the Cards, I still have the memories from my childhood about going to the old stadium at ASU with my uncle & cousin who were big fans. However, the cardinals lost the few times I went so it wasn't an especially memorable experience. Especially since it seemed we always ended up in the same section where the fans of the visiting team were sitting.

But back to the present; the last few seasons have been interesting, especially 2015-2016. However, that particular season also brought the devastating 15-49 loss against Carolina: "Newton, Panthers maul Cards to reach Super Bowl" was the "Associated Press" headline.

Taken that into account; now it's 2017, so -- What's next for the Cardinals?

An SI article from a few days ago (link above) doesn't paint an especially positive picture:

"The 37-year-old quarterback is on a pitch count at practice for the first time in his life. Tuesday was a regular coach-mandated body-preservation day off for the star 34-year-old wide receiver, who hasn’t said if he’ll play beyond this year. The 64-year-old head coach is coming off surgery to remove a cancerous growth from his kidney—his second cancer scare—and is his usual growly self.
Life moves on for three recent giants of the game—Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald, Bruce Arians. It’s futile to say in July what the future holds, but each man knows, as does the organization, that this may be the last season this trio in concert tries to bring Arizona its first Super Bowl title."
It is indeed futile to "say in July (or August) what the future holds". But I'm still interested in at least asking the question about the first regular-season Cardinals game: will the Cards win against the Lions?
It is hard to say. First & foremost, I am a realist & I know the Lions had a better record than the Cards last year so anything is possible. But do I want the Cards to win? Of course I do!
The ongoing discussion about the violence of the game & its effect on the players is to be taken seriously. & I do hope the NFL takes all the necessary precautions in regards to the safety of the players. But the stakes in this billion dollar industry couldn't be higher. & I do believe that (given recent history), In order for the Cardinals to be talked about in the same way as the great NFL teams of our times, every game should be played under the specter of the devastating january 24th, 2016 NFC championship loss (so the Cards can avoid a similar fate this season).
