Today is the 16th anniversary of 9/11 & like all Americans who were alive back then (which is the vast majority), I remember exactly where I was when it happened.
I was a still a kid living at home when I woke up (7am) & heard my little sister's radio in the other room. I remember hearing the morning DJs unusually somber voice. I believe her radio was tuned to 98 KUPD, & I thought to myself: "If 'wacky' morning DJs are talking so seriously about a terrorist attack, something's gone terribly wrong".
Thoughts & prayers to the families of the victims of 9/11 which were the deadliest terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.
I can't believe 16 years have gone by.
But in much, much less important news, today (because of lack of time), I'm just writing about the Arizona Cardinals & the NFL's first regular-season week. Tonight is Monday Night Football which has a more patriotic feel than usual due to the 9/11 anniversary (see picture below). ESPN is broadcasting two games: in the first game (which I couldn't watch since I was at work) Vikings defeated the Saints 19-29. & right now I'm watching Broncos vs Chargers:
But yesterday morning when I woke up (late for a change), similar to many TV viewers, I first watched cable news coverage of hurricane "Irma" (yet another "monster" hurricane which is becoming a sad but common "news event" as of late).
Of course, this weekend was the beginning of the NFL's regular season, so I also watched the Cardinals game.
Unfortunately, it was the same story as last season. Cardinals appear unable to get it done during important games (& I'd consider the first game of the regular season to be rather important though I'll admit: not crucial).
There were three interceptions for Palmer which is not a good sign at all. Nevertheless, he appears to have accepted responsibility for the loss which is a positive step in the right direction:

Carson Palmer putting Cardinals' loss 'solely on myself'
"The Cardinals couldn't have cooked up a more concerning performance in their regular-season opener.
The primary source of trouble centered around veteran passer Carson Palmer, who tossed a trio of picks in Sunday's 35-23 loss to the Lions.
"I just didn't do a good enough job," Palmer said. "I put that solely on myself. I'm disappointed in myself. I just felt like had I made a handful of throws, we would have been in a different position."
Palmer spent much of the offseason resting his arm, hoping to solve some of the fatigue issues that plagued him early last autumn. That didn't help on Sunday, with the veteran lacking accuracy on too many of his throws despite finishing with 269 yards and a touchdown.
It's too early to panic, but even Palmer admits the issues better be fixed in a hurry."
Palmer taking responsibility will hopefully help improve the Cards' physical & mental preparation for next week's game (Sunday at 10am AZ time on Fox) against the Colts (who looked terrible by the way). Apparently, Indianapolis has "issues" with their quarterbacks thus Scott Tolzien & the Colts lost to the Rams (who were themselves terrible last season) 46 to 9!http://www.espn.com/blog/indianapolis-colts/post/_/id/21341/colts-can-only-blame-themselves-for-their-messy-quarterback-situation-after-blowout-loss
"Colts can only blame themselves for a messy QB situation after blowout loss"
If the Indianapolis Colts were going to have a quarterback controversy while Andrew Luck is out, they should have had it in May or June, not in September -- and not after getting thoroughly embarrassed by the Rams.
But here the Colts are, having to decide if they should permanently stick with Jacoby Brissett as the starter until Luck returns or go back to Scott Tolzien, who was benched in the fourth quarter of Sunday's opener after looking horrible for three quarters in the Colts’ 46-9 loss to the Rams.
Elsewhere, Cowboys beat the Giants 19 to 3. As a result, many people (see "NYPost" headline below) pointed to the fact WR Odell did not play (he has an ankle injury) as a contributing factor to the defeat:
"Odell-less Giants unravel in Dallas":
Also, despite it being a close game, the long-suffering Cleveland Browns franchise lost (again) 21-18 to the Steelers:

As far as the rest of the games; here's the NFL's page with the regular season's schedule & results for week 1:
