English:
Because the white working-class vote will be a smaller percentage of what it was in previous years, many people think Donald Trump will not win the election.
I hope so, but this is an unpredictable election, and what happened yesterday in Europe (England exiting the EU) worries me.
I have a Mexican friend (like me, he's now a naturalized US citizen) who mentioned he might be voting for Trump: his logic? "Trump will create jobs for all of us, whether you're Latino or not".
So I asked my friend: "So Trump called Mexicans who immigrated to the US like us, rapists, do you not care about that?"
I don't even remember what my friend's answer was (we were at a restaurant with a group of people, everybody drinking) but my point is: how many more Latinos like my friend are out there?
As I mentioned before, England exiting the European Union worries me. Xenophobia mixed with economic inequality can create toxic results. And Trump seems to be generating passion among his supporters.
From the Democrat side, I don't see the same energy (I voted for Bernie, so I might be biased). But I don't see the same passion among Hillary supporters: I hope I'm wrong. But if Latinos don't want an
anti-immigrant demagogue as their next president, they need to start mobilizing and convincing their friends and family to vote against Trump.
